The best feature what i liked about Liferea is that i can search the feeds for keywords and get them all in a virtual folder. I believe this is the way people will be reading the feeds in the future, as more and more feeds need to be tracked, it would become impossible to go through each and every post. The virtual folders provide a simple and effecient solution to the problem.
One thing what i liked about Liferea is the way it is nicely works with Gnome, my desktop manager of choice. Another feature is the one where it provides the user the option for setting the “feed reading”, it can be set for “reduced memory usage” or “for speed”. This is the first program I have seen which provides such an option, good for people who track many feeds and who want to conserve memory. Last but not the least it is highly configurable and provides lots of options in the preferences section.
Overall, when compared to what i was using before, viz., the sage extension in firefox and Akregator, i find Liferea a lot more easy and comfortable.

Liferea should have more views and if possible: a set of themes. - the application’s default view is not that good and it would really be nice with some themes to chose from.
It also lacks SSL and HTTP-authorization.

@Aleksandersen: Though themes are not directly supported, you can change the icon set used, i currently use the tango icon set, search the web for the icon package for liferea, installing is as simple as copying the files to a particular directory.
Also themes would have allowed for more customisation, but I must say I am really happy with the current design and layout options.

Hi! The current Liferea version 1.2.0 supports HTTPS when compiled with GNUTLS support enabled. HTTP authentication (Basic and Digest) is supported since a lot of releases.
For customization: yes, there are no themes available, but you can change the CSS by providing user defined stylesheets (a description on this can be found in the Liferea blog).
