Yesterday on the eve of taking the idol for immersion of Lord Ganesha @ Nehru Maidan, Mangalore, I had been there to see the procession. At 8:00 pm as usual there was the Fireworks, lots of them. After the fireworks and the pooja’s, the procession consisting of various tableau’s began.
The tableau’s in the procession represented parts of various stories from Indian mythology. It was nice to see the people coming up with new ideas for the tableau’s. In the earlier years, one or two tableau’s would be representing the latest happenings such as the Jayalalitha vs Karunanidhi (some years back when Karunanidhi was pulled out of his house at night), or the Bin Laden, and also the Dr. Raj Kumar Kidnapping etc. But this year there were no such tableau’s. For those who are wondering what I am talking about, here are some snapshots taken from the local tv which did the live telecast (CC India). And sorry for the poor quality of the images.
