Nithin Kamath’s Weblog

Experiences and Adventure of a techie

With the advent of social networking site like Orkut, Facebook, MySpace, MyBlogLog and various others; it has become important to make a way so that people can quickly recognize you. One of doing so is using a photo or any image which you want.

Adding a photo is acceptable to most when it is put on sites which allow proper privacy settings. But what if you do not want to use your photo, but use some other image. Well here is a good site called ImageChef, a site which allows any one to create a custom image without any technical knowledge.

There is a large set of images to choose from, nicely divided into appropriate categories. So what do you have to do to get a custom image. Nothing much just go to the site, pick an image you like, you will get a text box in which you can enter the text you want to appear on the image, click on preview and you will get the image with the text you entered. Also there is an new section on creating images for instant messengers.

Here is a small preview of some of the images which I tested on, not the best but workable:

Litsum - Book SummariesImagine this, you are with your friends and one of your friends mentions about a book he/she read and how nice the book is and recommends it to you for reading. You want to read it, but you are in a time crunch so what do you do? Well I found the solution, the site http://litsum.com/, is a great site for such times. It has a huge collection of Literature Summaries mostly classics, and all of them are free.

The site is neat and well done, with easy navigation to the book you want based on the Title, Author or the Starting Alphabet. Once you select the book, the summary is arranged nicely according to chapters which is a good choice, if you consider that it is easier to read little by little, rather than have the whole text come up in one page which makes it difficult to convince yourself to read it.

Overall this site is great and will hopefully make me read a few of those books in the near future. So what are you waiting for put your reading glasses on and head over to the site. Also do you have any good book recommendations or any other similar site in mind that you visit frequently, then do let me know through the comments.
