ICE!The industry I am in needs that I sit in front of the computer the whole day. So after coming back from the office I try to avoid sitting large amounts of time in front of the computer, so as to avoid straining my eyes. So what did I alternate that with, well I got back to reading books.

In fact, in my childhood, I used to read a lot of comics. Many of you might also have read them, the ones like the Indrajal Comics (Phantom, Superman, etc), Tintin’s Adventures, Archie, and many more. After that slowly the reading habit started coming down, and even though I had stopped reading comics, reading novels and other books were far and apart. Now I am trying to get back to reading habit and have brought a couple of books lying around in my house.

The first book I am starting with is titled ‘ICE!’ by Arnold Federbush, a old novel published in 1978 which was picked up at a second hand shop for ten bucks. The books cover says - ‘The north pole moves to New York as unexpected disaster strikes in ICE!’. Exciting stuff right, I have finished reading half the book and it is about a person Mark and Karen who battle for survival in New York that has been covered by ice under the new Ice Age.

Well reading this book till now has been fun and many coincidences have occured already. The book is about how the human advances and global warming have changed the earth and the weather, with glaciers melting and affecting New York. Incidentally, today’s ‘Sunday Times’ paper has a front page headline titled “Act now, curb global warming”, and it mentions about the rapid rate at which the glaciers are melting and the effects it will have on the civilization. It mentions the same things like is covered in the book!!!

Also in the afternoon it was raining, reading the book at such a time was also exciting, especially the part where even in New York it starts to snow heavily and people are in sudden panic. Now combine that with the reading environment which suddenly starts getting dark…its starts to rain hard….thunders roar…all combined to make for an intense reading session.

So hope to end reading this book by next weekend. Hey people do you have any recommendation for a good book on any genre, please let me know through the comments. Thanks in advance for that. Happy reading :-)
