Guruji.com is a relatively new entrant in the search engine market and is being promoted as “The Indian Search Engine”. For the past 2 days I have been receiving quite a few hits from people using this search engine. So I though I will give this search engine a one week trial. You might be knowing the benifits of using the search toolbar, (it removes the need of first visiting the site and then entering the details). I searched for a Firefox Search Plugin for Guruji.com, and could not find any; hence created this one.
This Search Plugin will work only on Mozilla Firefox 2 or later.
Use the button below to install the Plugin. Once installed, click on the small download arrow in the search toolbar and select ‘guruji’ option.
Please note that this is a simple search plug-in, which anyone can create, even then I am including the source code for the plug-in. No licensing information is mentioned but it would be great if current commented header is retained and you mention the link to this page.

Here is the search toolbar before installing the plugin:

Here is the new search toolbar:

This is also my first attempt at this type of thing so please do report any bugs or improvements by commenting below.

Hi Nithin,
Thanks for putting up a detailed description on using the guruji firefox search plugin. We really appreciate your effort to build one. Please do let us know if you have any suggestions/feedback at the end of your one-week trial
We’ll definitely work to make guruji better so that you can consider making it your default search engine in the future.

What is making Guruji.com popular is the investment being made in the website.
I never found anything different in the website from Google India Search.
So, I think they need to add new features and then only they would survive the google whirlpool.

Guruji.com has the strength of local search in Indian Languages. And full marks for them. but google is also striving for same.
They need to be innovative to keep their score up.
