I have finally found some time to prepare a small write up about epITome ‘06, the South India Level Inter-Collegiate IT Fest held on 18 and 19 October 2006 organised by Elixir, AICS (M’lore).
The fest began on 18 Oct 2006 with 8 Colleges participating. Mr. N V Hegde, President (Nitte Education Trust) was the chief guest for the inauguration function which went on till around 10:00. The events followed soon after, with mostly the prelims of many events such as samanvitha, medhaavi, dheeman, maayaajaala etc being held in the morning session. The afternoon session saw the finals of the s/w engg and web designing events. Cultural programme consisting of dance, songs, skit etc was held late in the evening.
The second day was the day of reckoning for all the teams since all the main finals were on this day. The events went on well.
So who won? R.V College of Engg, Bangalore bagged the Overall Championship, and Gogte College, Belgaum emerged the Runner-up.
I Thank All the colleges that participated in this fest in spite of the various factors which went against us. This year we were expecting at least 15-20 Colleges, but the curfew in M’lore some days before the fest, the changes in dates, the proximity to holidays and the exams in some colleges meant we got only 8 and we are thankful to them for making it.
You all may be wondering why I have written so little, well the fact is that since I was in charge of the design/presentation committee I was not able to see any event on the first day and the second day, the only event which I saw was the Quiz. I am some how sad that I was not able to watch the events and interact with the participants like I did the previous year. Well to do all this I had to be in the Events committee which I unfortunately was not in. Well everyone has to do something, I was involved with the design work, So I am happy with the effort my committee put in and hope all the people liked the work put in by the design/presentation committee.
Ps. I am not in a position to upload any more photos this month since I have far too much exceeded the bandwidth limit and also I donot have all the photos since it is holidays till 25th. Hopefully I will be able to post some photos the coming month.
