If .CHM files cannot be displayed properly under Windows XP, remember to unblock them: 1. right-click on .CHM file 2. select ‘Properties’ 3. click ‘Unblock’ button The ‘Unblock’ buttom appears only on .CHM files downloaded from Internet: ‘This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer.’
Since i am not sure if the suggestion will work or not, i searched for an alternative option, this was when i found “chm encoder” a freeware utility which accepts a chm file and converts it into html files. If the “generate menu” is selected then the software generated nice menus for easy navigation. I tried it and it works fine, a cool freeware program.
Update: There exists xChm - a software which I currently use in fedora to view chm files, i found that a version for windows also exists.
