It is vacation time, and it has been raining heavily for the past four days and I was getting really bored when I started my GNU/Linux machine so that I can read some unread mail, I was scrolling through the menu when the word ‘Games’ caught my eye , obviously my eyes lit up. I went through the menu list and clicked on the game “Frozen Bubble”.

Before i say my opinion on the game, here is what its manual says about the game:
“The Frozen-Bubble consists of firing randomly chosen bubbles across the board. If the shoot ends up having a clump of at least 3 bubbles of the same color, they all pop. If some bubbles were sticked only on the popping clump, they fall. In 1-player mode, the goal is to pop all the bubbles on the board as quickly as possible.”

I started the game, the main screen looked really cool!!, i did not expect a free game developed on Linux to look so good moreover the background music was really flowing well with the main screen. I selected the single player mode and started playing the game. The navigation was easy, left and right arrow button moved the shooting mechanism and the up arrow key shoot the bubble. I played for quite some time before I had to stop to have my dinner.

After dinner I again played the game for much longer time. I could never have imagined that such a small and simple game would keep me hooked for this long and i assume that the beauty of small games is that even though they are small they have the “magic” to keep you hooked, it is visible even in the mobile arena where you can find thousand of people playing the snake game. Coming back to this game it is interesting to note that in the single player mode the levels are selected randomly each time you start a new game, but if you want you can start a game from a particular level (for this read the manual). To conclude, this was an nice gaming experience, but know what there are lots more games in my Linux machine which i am yet to play. So have a nice bubbly time.
